Misery doesn't Take a Summer Break

Greece

Thessaloniki in August - sweltering heat, empty streets.

Where there is usually a hive of activity, most Greeks flee the city to go to the sea in summer.

However, many people in need of help, drug addicts, refugees and the homeless do not have this opportunity. Their misery does not take a summer break.

At the same time, some of the help they do get is not available during this time. That's why our team in Greece was there for these people during the hot months. They continued to distribute much-needed meals and refreshments on the streets and squares of the city. They also regularly opened the Drop-in Center. The response makes it clear that the need for these offers of help is unbroken and even increasing.

The latest project is to set up a complete kitchen in the Drop-in Center. This is intended to supplement the mobile gas cooker-powered soup kitchen, especially in the cooler months of the year, so that those seeking help can continue to look forward to warm and healthy meals and that they can find provision in the Drop-in Center.
