Teams from the TOS Rehab Center in Belarus have been visiting the prison in Svetlagorsk regularly for around 2.5 years. There they meet people who have long since given up on themselves and who are no longer given any chance by society.
Stanislaw was an inmate there. He has a very difficult past. His parents were both alcoholics and he himself was stuck in a cycle of addiction, crime and lack of prospects for years.
The visiting team from TOS Ministries International has a special permit from the district government for its activities, as not everyone is allowed into the prison. On some days, the team presents the work of the Rehab Center in the large forum in front of up to 500 men. On other days, they meet with inmates who want to find out more, run courses on the Christian faith and give advice on how to live a drug-free life. Sometimes up to 30 men take part.
Stanislaw has never been to these meetings in person. One day, however, a fellow inmate told him how he had found new hope at one such meeting. When Stanislaw was released and faced with the shambles of his previous life, he remembered what he had been told. He contacted the Rehab Center. A short time later, he started therapy there. He found faith in Jesus and his life was changed step by step.
In the meantime, he has successfully completed therapy and supports the permanent team with everyday tasks as part of aftercare. For example, he looks after the heating furnaces and the chickens. In this way, he continues to prepare for the challenges of life outside the Rehab Center in a protected environment. He has found a new family there that gives him inner support. In this way, he is experiencing how his life is taking a completely new direction and he is now seeing successes that he would never have dreamed of before.
