Gerd recently returned, as he says himself, “blessed, encouraged and very grateful”.
During his time there, he not only provided support with practical work, but also helped the thirteen former street children who live in the Transformer House with their homework. He also taught them how to ride a bike and swim, played soccer with them and accompanied the group on excursions. It was a great enrichment for everyone.
For him, too, the effort was totally worth it, says Gerd. He has grown fond of the children and learned a lot from the team. Bolivia, which he sees as breathtakingly beautiful, brought back childhood memories: “I really appreciated the fact that I was able to get to know the life of the inhabitants in the small village where the transformer house is located.” 
The open afternoons for children brought him into contact with children and their families from the village. “Seeing the neighbors ploughing with cows or harvesting corn with a sickle reminded me of my own origins.”
