Volunteer in South America

The volunteers in South America will serve in the Transformation Houses and Drug and Crime Prevention Projects in Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru.

Locations

Ñemby, Paraguay

Target group for our project are street kids in Asuncion and the surrounding area. In 2008, we started a children's home for street children, providing a new home to local children and teenagers. The volunteers will support the existing project. Possible areas of activities:

  • maintenance of house and garden
  • support of daily processes
  • supporting the kids in their daily chores
  • helping with recreational activities for kids

Lima, Peru

Target group for our project are street kids in Lima and especially in the slum area of La Victoria. In 2002, we started a drop-in center for street children in this neighborhood. Three afternoons a week, we offer recreational activities for older children and teenagers. Additionally, we have a children's home in a different area of Lima, in Surco. The volunteers will support the existing projects. Possible areas of activities:

  • repairs/maintenance in the house
  • supporting the kids in their daily chores
  • helping with recreational activities for kids

Guayaquil, Ecuador

Target group for our project are street kids of the slum area of "Balerio Estacio" with about 300,000 inhabitants. In 2012, we started a community center there that offers recreational activities for local children and teenagers. The creative workshops provide kids and adolescents with the chance to discover their potential and to learn new things in a safe environment. The volunteers will support the existing projects. Possible areas of activities:

  • helping with creative workshops for kids; here creativity, musical gifting, and a good working knowledge of Spanish are important

Target group for our project are children and teenagers in the poor area of Abdon Calderon with about 2,000 kids and adolescents. In April 2016, we started a drop-in center for locals.
