The Country
Current Situation
Greece has about 11.2 million inhabitants. After an economic revival in the mid-nineties, Greece has slipped into a deep crisis since 2010. Countless people are affected and poverty has seen a sharp increase in the entire country. A noticeable factor are large groups of migrants and refugees.
Our Location
Thessaloniki with its approx. 1 million inhabitants is the second largest city in Greece. As in all industrialized mega-cities, the development has its downsides. Often enough, people are marginalized, sometimes even pushed beyond the poverty line. This city is such a hot-spot because of the high percentage of immigrants, countless poor and sick people, drug addicts, prostitutes and people who have simply fallen through the cracks.
